  3. Joyciline Jepkosgei (Ken) - two hours, 16 minutes and 24 seconds

In a thrilling display of athleticism and endurance, Alexander Munyao claimed victory in the 2024 London Marathon, leaving track legend Kenenisa Bekele in his wake.

Breaking clear of Bekele with three miles remaining, Munyao stormed home in just two hours and four minutes, securing his fastest-ever marathon time. Despite pressure from Bekele, Munyao's confidence and training paid off, propelling him to victory in the prestigious race.

In the women's elite race, Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir stamped her authority on the course, setting a new women's world record time.

With a stunning performance, Jepchirchir crossed the finish line in two hours, 16 minutes, and 16 seconds, 45 seconds faster than the previous record set in 2017. Ethiopia's Tigst Assefa secured second place, followed by Joyciline Jepkosgei in third, as Jepchirchir showcased her prowess as one of the greatest marathon runners of her time.

Emile Cairess and Mahamed Mahamed secured Olympic qualification for Britain with their impressive performances, finishing third and fourth respectively in the men's elite race. The London Marathon once again proved to be a stage for extraordinary achievements and unforgettable moments, solidifying its status as one of the premier events in the world of distance running.
